I was a person who never shaved every day and always felt lazy about it. At times when I had to attend a meeting or a social, I would look out for my razor. Many times I drop the idea of shaving just because of the rough blade, which hurt my skin.
Somebody gave me a suggestion that if you want to get habitual of anything in life, do it for 21 days and you will become habitual of it.
I started using them, and since it was an expensive affair for me, I always maintain them properly, which you’ll know in a moment.
In the past, I used those plastic razors costing just 10 to 15 bucks, which lasted for only 2 or 3 shaves and got corroded losing its sharpness. You know what I am talking about.
So every day I started using this Gillette shaving razor, and in this way, four months passed. I was surprised that how could one blade survive for 120+ shaves.
There are two reasons I discovered for myself.
1) The key here is to shave every day, by doing so the blade gets very less resistance from the hair on your skin, resulting in lesser wear & tear on the blade sharpness.
And because you shaved yesterday, you have a very less hair today and in this way, you get a very smooth & clean shave in just one round.
All this without hurting your skin at all, even if you are rough at shaving or in a hurry, it won’t hurt you.
2) Cleaning your razor blade is the 2nd most important factor if you want a longer life of your blade.
I mean if you dry your razor by rubbing it twice gently with your bathing towel, the water on it gets sucked away. It remains dry, hence no moisture which leads to corrosion.
So after four months, when I replace my blade, I do not throw that old blade, I use it for underarms, which again lasts for four months until I replace the beard shaving blade.
What I am trying to tell is, the money that I put in buying these razor & blade is very cost-effective.
If that one blade is costing me Rs. 180, and if it lasts for 120 days of everyday shaving + 120 days of underarms shave, the cost per day comes to less than Rs. 1. Isn’t that cost-effective?
This Gillette shaving kit (Razor + Blade) is handy to me since I am a globe trotter and I do not have to carry half a dozen plastic razor blades with me when I am travelling for a month.
This also reduces the plastic footprint that I leave behind, contributing to the green environment.
The other cheap blades that you find in the market uses iron for manufacturing their blades, which gets corroded because of the humidity in the washroom.
The best way to find if your razor is made up of iron material is to try to attach a magnet to it. If there is an attraction, it’s an iron metal.
Magnets can be easily found in your home and offices furniture door that has a magnetic base at the rear. This way you will know what metal is being used for your razor blade.
The Gillette uses a premium quality steel, I don’t know the exact metal, but it is from the SS family (Stainless Steel) and not from the MS family (Mild Steel) which is also called as iron.
I love Gillette Mach 3 Razor Blade, and I am thankful to Gillette for making this great product.
